THE ALLINA “CARE GOALS” MODEL AS A BLUEPRINT FOR IMPROVEMENT

    VIEW DESCRIPTION

Focus, focus, focus. Eight years ago Allina Health EMS tried a new path toward improving patient care — using data and research to select one area of patient care that needed to be improved, and then having the entire organization commit to doing just that during the course of a year. Called the annual Care Goals, it provides very specific measurable outcomes — and a way to reach them, through training, education, data collection and a variety of feedback loops.

Susan Long, Allina Health EMS’ Director of Clinical Services, and Andrew Stevens, MD, their Associate Medical Director, will provide the details of how they select, implement and measure their Care Goal, and how to avoid the pitfalls they learned the hard way. Allina Health EMS serves more than 100 communities in central Minnesota and has a reputation as one of the leading EMS agencies in the country.
